THAI believes that it is more than a service provider, it is an integral part of the community in which it works. In that belief, it is in actively involved supporting a wide range of community service projects both within Thailand and in the overseas cities from which it operates. THAI is also one of the major sponsors for sporting events, its logo visible at different sports key golfing, long-boat racing, and other sports events, many of them with THAI personnel as participants.
- THAI’s Jumbo Village Surin Foundation, located at Baan Ta Klang, Tambon Krapoh, Ampur Tahtoom in Surin province, was established to help conserve Thai elephants. Through systematic management and supervision techniques, it was recognized as an outstanding community tourist attraction. ‘THAI Loves the Elephant and Forest’ project was established as a joint cooperation between Kasetsart University and THAI’s Jumbo Village Surin to restore areas where food sources for the elephants in Surin province are located and also maintain the elephants’ ecosystem.
- Doctors, nurses and volunteers from Duangkaew foundation were sponsored by THAI to travel to remote areas of the country and perform operations for patients with disabilities at no cost
- THAI also sponsored air travel for volunteer doctors under the Princess Mother’s Foundation to provide medical treatment people living in the remote areas of Thailand.
- Special briefings about His Majesty the King were organized for members of Thai communities at key international destinations, namely Los Angeles, Chicago, Tokyo, Washington DC, New York, Munich, Geneva, Paris, London, Copenhagen, Melbourne and Auckland, the event was jointly organized by THAI and the Chaipattana Foundation to commemorate His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.
- THAI and Duangkaew Foundation jointly organized the ‘Smiles for Father’ project, where doctors and nurses were flown to various provinces throughout Thailand to perform operations on children with cleft lips and palates. THAI cabin attendants with medical knowledge also joined the trip as volunteers.
- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn piloted THAI’s Boeing 737-400 aircraft, a special charity flight on the route Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok during 5-6 January 2007. Over 80 million Baht in funds was raised and presented to the Crown Prince for purchasing medical equipment to be used in hospitals in Thailand’s three southern provinces.
- To celebrate THAI’s 47th anniversary, donations were made to the Buddhist Monk’s Hospital for medical treatment of ailing monks and a health development program for over 300,000 monks nationwide. The donation was made in support of general health checks and operations on joint transplant.
- THAI organized activities in support of World Environmental Day to promote environmental protection programs and help reduce pollution from various functions. The activity also aimed to create greater awareness of environmental conservation. Awards were given to projects initiated by various functions within THAI under a common goal to protect and reduce environmental impact while maximizing use of existing resources.
- THAI sponsored the introduction of a mobile recording unit for the ‘Book of Voices’ project, granting the public and opportunity to record their voices reading His Majesty’s principles and philosophy. Readers’ voices were recorded onto audio disks and presented to visually impaired persons, the illiterate, the elderly and children, with the hope that they might incorporate His Majesty’s self-sufficient philosophy in their daily life. The mobile recording unit was dispatched to key communities and business offices, including THAI’s Head Office, Operations Center at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Hua Lampong Railway Station, Moh Chit Bus Terminal, New Sai Tai Transportation Terminal, Central Ladpraow, Central Airport Chiang Mai, Central Festival Phuket, Big C Kon Kaen and The Mall Department Store in Korat.
- ‘Give Life Back to Earth’ reforestation activity was organized at the Royal Initiative Huay Sai Development Center in Ampur Cha-am, Petchburi province, to mak the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 80th birthday anniversary on 5th December 2007. the project is part of the Company’s commitment to protect the environment and conserve forest areas initiated in 1995, the project has remained active through to present day.
