Nagoya, The Heart of Central Japan

Nagoya is not only one of Japan’s industrial cities but also a city with remarkable history and tourist attractions, such as Nagoya Castle, a symbol of prosperity for the  tokugawa system or shogun regime. There is a sculpture called ‘Kinshachi’ or ‘gold tiger head dolphin’ on top of the castle, which is the only one in Japan. For Thais, Nittaiji Temple is a place well worth visiting because the Buddha’s bone and The image of Buddha there was given to Japan by His Majesty King Rama 5.

In addition to cultural tourism, Nagoya also has many industrial, technological and scientific museums. One interesting one is Toyota Museum, that transforms an old factory to a museum that shows the history of technology in automobile production, mechanism and weaving machines. There is the Nagoya Science Museum which has the largest planetarium in the world. Exploring the beautiful natural landscapes is another interesting activity for visitors to this city. There are several parks perfect for watching the cherry-blossoms in Spring and leaves changing colour in Fall. With a convenient international airport that has direct flights to Nagoya or just an hour’s ride by Shinkansen from Tokyo, Nagoya is worth a prime spot on your must-visit list.
