Temporary Measures for Passengers Visit Japan from 12 January 2023

From 12 January 2023, the following temporary measures will be taken.

Passengers entering Japan by direct flights from Macau will be required to present a certificate of negative test result of a pre-departure test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure. In addition, they will be tested at the time of entry.

After 00:00 JST on January 12th*, 2023, temporary measures will apply to: 

• All those who have stayed in China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) within 7days of the arrival date.

• All those who are entering Japan via a direct flight from China (including Macau, excluding Hong Kong).

After 00:00 JST on January 12th, 2023, all those who are entering Japan via a direct flight from China (including Macau, excluding Hong Kong) required to obtain a certificate of Pre-departure Test.

• In the country of departure, if you do not obtain a certificate of Pre-departure Test before boarding, you will be denied boarding the aircraft.

• Passengers with valid vaccination certificates who are not flying directly from China (including Macau, excluding Hong Kong) to Japan, will not be required to obtain a certificate of Pre-departure Test.

• Please pre-register the information required for quarantine procedures via “Visit Japan Web" https://vjw-lp.digital.go.jp/en/. We request that all travelers use “Visit Japan Web" https://vjw-lp.digital.go.jp/en/ as it will take an extended period of time to confirm documents for those who do not use it.

• Those who test positive will be required to quarantine at a designated facility.

• Temporary measures will apply to those who board an aircraft with an estimated time of arrival after 00:00 JST on January 12th, 2023.
