Checked Baggage Policy by Weight Concept applicable to Purely Domestic Sectors

Checked Baggage Policy by Weight Concept applicable to International Sectors within TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand) , between TC2 (Europe, Africa, Middle East) and TC3 (Asia, Australia, New Zealand)
Note:
1. When a passenger is involuntarily rerouted to a lower class of service, the higher class baggage allowance shall be applied even though the refund for the fare difference is made.
2. The exemption from extra baggage shall be applied to any passengers who traveling on the conditions agreed by THAI and Government sector.
The exemption shall be applied according to the condition on the passenger's ticket only. By government order or agreement, certain passenger categories may have a free baggage allowance deviating from the regular system. Such amended free baggage allowance is stated in the passenger's ticket.
3. The condition on the 2nd note is applicable to passengers traveling from Thailand only. For other areas/countries, follow the rules applied by the national carriers concerned.
4. In case of travel on combined services for through journeys where the passenger travels partly on F-class and partly on C-, U-, or Y-class, the free baggage allowance applicable on each sector of the trip shall be that applicable to the class of service for which the fare is paid.
In case the passenger who has paid F-class fare travels on C-, U- or Y-class, the free baggage allowance shall be that applicable to F-class.
5. Foldable stroller can be loaded in compartment without additional charge.

Checked Baggage Policy by Piece Concept applicable to an International Sectors to/from USA/Canada
- Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers receive a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each piece shall not exceed 32 kgs (70 lbs) and linear measurement (length + width + height) shall not exceed 158 cms (62 inches).
- Passengers traveling on economy class are given a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each item shall not exceed 23 kgs (50 lbs) and linear measurement of each piece shall not exceed 158 linear cms (62 inches).
- Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) Gold Card members and Royal Orchid Platinum members will enjoy the privilege of one extra baggage on top of the regular allowance in any class of travel. The applicable privilege will be utilized along with the frequent flyer status to only those tickets that are wholly online or involved interline transportation with other carriers who agreed to the applicable of the bonus.

Carry on Baggage
Carry-on Baggage
In addition to the checked baggage allowance, each passenger is allowed to hand carry one baggage at maximum length 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches), thickness 25 cm (10 inches). These dimensions include wheels, handles, and side pockets. Total weight of the carry-on baggage must not exceed seven kg (15 lb).Passengers are required to place the baggage in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of them.
Passengers can bring the following items free of charge:
- Handbag/wallet/purse with the maximum length 37.5 cm (15 inches), width 25 cm (10 inches), depth 12.5 cm (5 inches), or the total of three dimensions do not exceed 75 cm (30 inches) with the total weight not exceeding 1.5kgs(3.3lb). Notebooks, or portable personal computers are also applied with this condition.
- Walking sticks (crutches) used by elderly passengers, sick passengers, and handicapped passengers
- Infant food

Other than equipment installed or supplied on the aircraft by THAI, passengers own equipment/devices/travel gadgets such as personal air purifier/ionizers, seat-recline preventer, knee defender, inflight beds e.g. Bed Box ,Jet Kids, Fly Baby, leg-rests, hammocks, infant canopies or similar devices are not allowed to use onboard due to :
- It may cause unsafe condition to the occupant and/or other passengers in the event of emergency.
- It may damage, obstruct or cause malfunction to aircraft system and/or aircraft equipment.
- It may cause disturbance to the adjacent passengers.
Measure Restricted : liquid, aerosol and gel
All liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on baggage must be carried in containers with a capacity not greater than 100ml.
- - Liquids carried in containers larger than 100ml. are not accepted, even if the container is only partially filled.
- - Containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of one litter.
- - The plastic bag must be presented for visual examination at the screening point.
- - Only one transparent re-sealable plastic bag per passenger may be permitted.
- - Exemptions may be made for medications, baby milk/foods and passengers with special dietary requirements.
- - The plastic bag must be presented separately from other cabin baggage at screening checkpoint.
- - Items purchased either at airport duty free shops or on board aircraft must be packed in a sealed plastic bag, and not have been opened. Passengers may be required to display a satisfactory proof of purchase.
Your Cabin Baggage
Lifting an overweight/oversized carry-on baggage to stow in an overhead locker, passengers may suffer muscle aches/pain. During turbulence, oversized/overweight baggage may fall on you or other passengers and cause injury. In case of emergency, it may also block the emergency exit routes and pose danger. For the sake of safety, every passenger is allowed one hand-carry baggage not over 7 kg or 45 linear inches (around 115 cm)to be taken on board, and properly stowed in a closed overhead bin.Excess Baggage
Excess Baggage Charges applicable to Purely Domestic Sectors
All excess baggage must be assessed and charged before the passenger boards the aircraft.
Baggage checked in addition to the traveler's baggage allowance. Checked baggage allowance may vary depending on cabin, status level, military status, itinerary and date of purchase.
Baggage carried in excess of the free baggage allowance is charged as follows, irrespective of the class paid for and used by the passenger.
Excess Baggage Charge rate, applicable to a checked portion of travel on purely THAI Domestic sectors, are in Weight Concept on a fixed rate listed below.
Note:
1. The above "Domestic Excess Baggage Charge Table" is effective for a checked portion of travel On/After 23JUL12 until further notice.- 2. Excess Baggage Charge rate is per kilogram in THB (Thai Baht).
- 3. The Excess Baggage Charge per kilogram for any additional THAI Domestic services is 1.5 percent of the highest normal direct one way economy class fare.
- 4. Child and infant discounted rates are not applicable.
- 5. For International Excess Baggage Charge rates are separately shown in USD (US Dollars).
- 6. If baggage is through check from TG Domestic connecting to TG International sectors, the Excess Baggage through check portion of travel is applied by zoning basis.
- 7. TG Domestic Sectors in Thailand is located by Zone 1 (Please refer Zoning Definitions for International Excess Baggage Charge Table.)
- 8. The condition on the 5th note, Currency Conversion: Excess baggage Charges published in USD only will be converted to the Local Currency by using the Banker's Selling Rate on the date of baggage charged.

Additional Items as checked baggage that may have extra handling charges. The following items are subject to a special handling fee based on itinerary. All fees listed are per item and to be collected in unit price. You may use one of your free baggage allowance piece for a golf set.
In order to facilitate the adjustment of fares, fees and other charges, IATA has divided the world into three main ‘Areas’. These Areas are called Area1, Area2 and Area3. They are regularly used in the interpretation of tariff rules and in the calculation of international air fares. Airlines sometimes refer to these areas as TC (Tariff Conference), TC1 (for Area1), TC2 (for Area2) and TC3 (for Area3).
Under each Area there are smaller ‘sub-areas’ or ‘regions’ which, in the IATA context, may have a different meaning from that generally implied by the geographical term.
Area 1 is composed of the whole of the Western Hemisphere.
Area 2 is Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Area 3 is composed of the whole of Asia and the neighboring islands (with the exception of the part included in TC2); Australia, New Zealand and neighboring islands and also the Pacific Islands (except those included in TC1).
If THAI baggage rule applies on your journey to the United States/US Territories, it is also THAI baggage rule applies on the return though you makes a stopover en-route.
In case of code-share flights that include a point in the United States/US Territories, the carrier performing as the marketing carrier determines the baggage rule.

Interline Journey
General Information
- Baggage Allowance determination and excess baggage charges calculation apply to baggage to be through checked from the point of departure to the point of arrival without stopover at any of the intermediate points. If passenger takes a stopover at an intermediate point, a new assessment of baggage allowance and baggage charges, if applicable, will be measured from the point of departure following the stopover.
If you travel with additional weight or piece baggage which is considered as over carrier baggage allowance, the excess baggage charge shall be applied. THAI provides the amount of the charges varied in accordance with your baggage checked portion when you travel with THAI. If your journey and/or your baggage checked portion are comprised of more than one carrier, other carrier’s baggage rules may apply.

Generally, a common baggage provision, IATA Resolution 302, is applicable to IATA airline members (including THAI). The resolution regulates which carrier’s baggage rules apply when your journey and/or baggage checked portion comprised of two or more carriers (Interline baggage provision). The IATA Resolution 302 is considered in accordance with the IATA Traffic Conference Areas.In order to facilitate the adjustment of fares, fees and other charges, IATA has divided the world into three main ‘Areas’. These Areas are called Area1, Area2 and Area3. They are regularly used in the interpretation of tariff rules and in the calculation of international air fares. Airlines sometimes refer to these areas as TC (Tariff Conference), TC1 (for Area1), TC2 (for Area2) and TC3 (for Area3).
Under each Area there are smaller ‘sub-areas’ or ‘regions’ which, in the IATA context, may have a different meaning from that generally implied by the geographical term.
Area 1 is composed of the whole of the Western Hemisphere.
Area 2 is Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Area 3 is composed of the whole of Asia and the neighboring islands (with the exception of the part included in TC2); Australia, New Zealand and neighboring islands and also the Pacific Islands (except those included in TC1).
Determination of carrier’s baggage rule in accordance with your baggage checked portion
- For travel between two or more Tariff Conference Areas, the carrier performing carriage on the first sector that crosses from one area to another on that checked portion determines the baggage rule.
- For travel between Tariff Conference Sub-areas, the carrier performing carriage on the first sector that crosses from one sub-area to another on that checked portion determines the baggage rule.
- For travel within a Tariff Conference Sub-area, the carrier performing carriage on the first international sector on that checked portion determines the baggage rule.
- For travel within a single country, the carrier performing on the first Operating Carrier on the checked portion determines the baggage rule.
Note:
Effective 01OCT14, if your travel involved a so called code shared flights, the carrier performing as the Marketing Carrier of the baggage checked portion determines the baggage rule, unless carrier publishes a rule stipulating that it will be the Operating Carrier.
Travel to/from the USA
In general, for passengers whose ultimate ticketed origin or destination is the United States and/or its territories, the baggage provisions selected at the beginning of the itinerary shall apply throughout the journey, regardless of stopovers.If THAI baggage rule applies on your journey to the United States/US Territories, it is also THAI baggage rule applies on the return though you makes a stopover en-route.
In case of code-share flights that include a point in the United States/US Territories, the carrier performing as the marketing carrier determines the baggage rule.
If your journey involves multiple airline partners, please be aware that baggage rules may vary. The baggage rules that apply for your journey may be those of our partner airlines. In some cases, they may apply their own baggage rule regardless of the code-share rules and rules for both outbound and inbound portion of travel. You may be charged for check-baggage fee if your journey originates in the United States/US Territories. Please contact their ticketing/reservation agents and/or read more about their baggage allowance and fee policies through their websites for further advice.
Determination Related to Interline Baggage Rules for Canada
The purpose of this determination is to establish the approach to interline baggage rule that air carriers should apply for tickets purchased on and after April 1, 2015, when participating in an interline itinerary issued on a single ticket, where the origin or ultimate destination is a point in Canada.
Guidance of Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA)
The agency determines that, for international itineraries involving multiple air carriers, to and from Canada, purchased on a single ticket issued on or after April 1, 2015, carriers should:- Apply a single set of baggage rules to the entire itinerary
- When an itinerary involving multiple air carriers is purchased on a single ticket for travel to and from Canada, a single set of baggage rules should apply throughout the entire itinerary.
- A single set of baggage rules will be applied throughout a passenger’s interlining itinerary issued on a single ticket where the origin or ultimate ticketed destination is a point in Canada. Regardless of stopover.
- For international itineraries, including domestic segments of an international itinerary
- Disclose the applicable rules on the Itinerary Receipt or e-Ticket.

Restricted Baggage
Smart Baggage
Baggage with integrated and installed lithium batteries, motors, power banks, GPS, GSM, Bluetooth, RFID or Wi-Fi technology, is subject to safety requirements that may emit the electromagnetic fields which interfere with the aircraft systems.
Passengers are required to carry this type of baggage as carry-on, any installed batteries must be removed prior to check-in to completely deactivate all electronics features. Each passenger is allowed to hand carry one baggage at maximum length 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches) and thickness 25 cm (10 inches). These dimensions include wheels, handles, and side pockets. Total weight of the carry-on baggage must not exceed 7 kg (15 lb.). The baggage that exceeds the conditions and dimensions above shall only be processed as checked baggage.
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) reserved the right to refuse carriage of the baggage that exceeds the above conditions and dimensions as checked baggage if the installed lithium batteries are non removable type.

Dangerous Goods or Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) are items or articles or substances which are capable of posing a hazard to health, safety, property or the environment and classified as following:

- Gases
- Flammable Liquids
- Flammable Solids
- Oxidizing substances and Organic Peroxides
- Toxic and Infectious Substances
- Radioactive Material
- Corrosives
- Miscellaneous Dangerous substances and articles, including environmentally hazardous substances

| 10. “Strike anywhere” matches, “Blue flame” or “Cigar” lighters or lighters powered by a lithium battery without a safety cap or means of protection against unintentional activation. |
For your safety, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) not allow to carriage these dangerous goods as checked baggage, carry-on baggage and on one’s person on all THAI flights except as listed in the table below.
